Assam hits rock bottom in health index, placed 21st in the chart

Guwahati/New Delhi, February 10: In a shocking revelation, the health index released by the ‘Healthy States, Progressive India’ brought to light that Assam ranks 21st among the Indian states. According to the report that was brought out jointly along with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, World Bank and Niti Aayog, Kerela (76.55), Tamil Nadu (63.38), Gujarat (61.99) and Himachal Pradesh (61.20) have topped the chart.

As per reports, states like Uttar Pradesh (33.38), Rajasthan (36.79), Bihar (38.46), Odisha (39.43) and Madhya Pradesh (40.09) stood at the bottom of the health index chart with Assam falling at bottom of the list in the ‘Empowered Action Group States.’

It may be further mentioned that among the smaller states of the country, Manipur ranked first in terms of annual incremental performance and Goa second, while Manipur stood second in terms of overall performance, with Mizoram (73.30) preceding Manipur (57.78) as overall performers. However, the indicators specifying higher incremental performance differed among the top performers.
