Akhil Gogoi, Chief Advisor of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti(KMSS) has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) led Assam government is playing ‘divisive politics’ with the much-debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
Accusing the BJP government of religious polarization, Gogoi said, “The government is trying to part the anti-Citizenship bill forces and has been giving a bait of constitutional safeguard to a section of the regional bodies,”.
“We should stand united against the Citizenship Bill and continue to do so in future. The ruling government is a fascist government”, added Gogoi while addressing the media in Guwahati on September 26th, 2019.
Speaking on the current skyrocketing prices of petrol, diesel and other essential commodities, Gogoi announced protest demonstrations across the state on September 27th, 2019.
“The real price of petrol is Rs. 33.98. The government has levied 46.8% tax on petrol. Hence we are paying Rs. 70.88 per litre. Similarly, the real price of diesel is Rs. 38.48 and tax levied is 36.3%. The jump in prices have been affecting the common man “, the firebrand leader added.
