New chief justices of Meghalaya, Sikkim HC’s sworn-in on same day
GUWAHATI: Governor Satya Pal Malik delivered the oath of office to Ranjit Vasantrao More, the new Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, at the Raj Bhavan in Shillong on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, his council of minister, senior officials, and other top leaders were present.
Taking to the twitter, CM Sangma said, “Attended the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Ranjit Vasantrao More as Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court at Raj Bhavan, Shillong. Congratulated him and extended my best wishes.”
In the same day, Justice Biswanath Somadder was sworn in as Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim at an event held at Raj Bhawan’s Ashirwad Hall.
Governor Ganga Prasad gave the Chief Justice Designate his oath of office.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay, High Court of Sikkim Judge Justice Meenakshi M. Rai, Justice Bhaskar Raj Pradhan, Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly L. B. Das, Cabinet ministers, MLAs, department heads, guests from the judiciary, and other officials attended the function.
Justice Somadder succeeds Chief Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari who was elevated to the Supreme Court.
