Guwahati, July 14: Arunachal Pradesh police arrested two persons for allegedly raping a minor girl at Ngopok village in Pasighat under Mebo subdivision of East Siang district.
As per reports, the incident took place on Tuesday. According to the eight-year-old victim, a 45-year-old man entered the house when her parents were working in the agricultural field and committed the heinous crime. The victim also shared that another man has been allegedly raping her.
The victim’s father lodged an FIR at the Pasighat Police Station.
Based on the FIR, the Pasighat Police arrested the alleged accused, Bukyang Yirang from Ngopok village on Wednesday and 22-year-old Getem Ratan was arrested on Thursday, following registration of a suo motu case.
The victim revealed about Ratan during counseling.
The police have registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC and Section 4/6 of the POCSO Act.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has strongly condemned the rape incident and demanded justice for the victim. The APCC stated, “The Pema Khandu-led BJP government does not work for the people and the state has become a ‘Balatkari Pradesh’.”
The APCC also alleged that the Khandu’s government is “shielding culprits and rejoicing over the misery of people”.
