Sensation prevailed in Assan’s Mankachar after a dead body of a man was recovered in West Garo Hills, an administrative district in the state of Meghalaya on April 11th, 2019.

The deceased has been identified as Nur Aziz and he hailed from Jhowdanga in Mankachar town located in South Salmara-Mankachar district of Assam. The dead body was recovered in Kherapara village under Dalu Police Station in West Garo Hills.

As per reports, the deceased and his friend Rohidul Islam had gone to an area near Dalu, bordering Bangladesh, and was lured by three persons from the area over buying betel nut and later murdered.  Islam had hired a vehicle driven by Nur and headed to Sensengre near Dalu, where the three criminals, who disguised as betel nut traders, asked him to come on April 7th,2019.

The body of the beetle nut trader Islam was recovered by police on the morning of April 8th, 2019 in the village of Ontapara under Dalu Police Station.

“It seems the dreaded days of the Garo National Liberation Army militants robbing and killing traders from Assam are back. I appeal to the Conrad Sangma led government to immediately look over the matter,” said a local.

West Garo Hills Police arrested Willip D Sangma in relation to the case while two others, Rohitson R Marak and Mose D Sangma are currently absconding.
