Nalbari, November 8: Nalbari BJP MLA Ashok Sarmah on Thursday stated that the ruling party has received “several requests” for alliance from the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for the upcoming Panchayat Polls.
The Panchayat polls in Assam will be held in two phases on December 5 and December 9 in 26 districts and 14 civil sub-divisions. The counting will take place on December 12.
“Though we have received several requests from the AGP for an alliance, the BJP high command is yet to issue any order. We will take steps accordingly,” said Sarmah.
“By November 10, we will be ready with our final list of candidates. We are working towards winning all the seats,” he added.
The AGP had earlier stated that they will contest the elections alone this year.
