5 Rohingya Girls, Broker Arrested Along Assam-Tripura Border

Guwahati, April 24, 2019

The police arrested five Rohingya girls along with a broker at the Churaibari area which falls along the Assam-Tripura border on April 24th, 2019.

According to reports, the Rohingya girls were on their way to Assam’s Karimganj from Tripura and the broker identified as Shyamal Miya helped them to enter Assam.

Later, the police said that on interrogation the girls revealed that they are Rohingyas and they entered India through Tripura-Bangladesh border. As they didn’t have any valid documents, Shyamal helped them to enter India by taking Rs 6,000 each from them and also promised them shelter in Karimganj district of Assam, police said.
