A visit to the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden will now be a hassle-free affair as the authorities have come up with an online ticketing system where you will be able to purchase tickets by just logging into https://zoo.forestassam.net.
Speaking to Time8, Tejas Mariswamy, Divisional Forest Officer of Assam State Zoo said, “Now visitors to the zoo can easily purchase tickets online instead of standing in long queues at the counters. We have launched the online ticketing system on August 19th, 2019 and we are expecting that people will soon start to use it.”
“The prices of the tickets are still the same which is Rs 30 for adults and Rs 10 for children. People just have to carry a soft copy or a printout of the e-ticket which they will get through an email at the time of visiting the Zoo. The visitors can also download the ticket from the portal,” added Mariswamy.
It may be mentioned, the Assam State Zoo recently acquired a pair of Asiatic lions from the Sakkarbaug Zoo, Gujarat and also re-launched golf carts which were non-functional from the past few years for visitors to the zoo.
Mariswamy also informed that the Assam State Zoo will get a pair of giraffes by the beginning of October this year from Mysore and Patna in exchange of rhinos. “An exchange programme approved by the Central Zoo Authority will take place under which the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in Patna will give a female giraffe and a male giraffe will be brought from the Mysore zoo,” said Mariswamy.
The lone giraffe at the Assam State Zoo had died in the year 2014.
