The Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport will soon get a major facelift, this was announced by Airport Authority of India (AAI) on September 19th, 2019.
Addressing a presser here, Northeast’s AAI Regional Director Sanjiv Jindal said, “The construction of a new terminal in the LGBI airport is going on and it will be completed by the year 2021. The terminal will have world-class facilities.”
“More than 1000 CCTVs will be installed in this new terminal, To make security checking hassle-free, bio-metric machines will be installed where the full-body scan will be completed within seconds. Also, automatic provisions will be given to passengers in customs, immigration and other counters,” Jindal added.
He further said that this new terminal is a mega project and the cost of the project is around Rs 1,232 crores. It is going to be an artistic and sustainable terminal at the Guwahati airport with world-class infrastructure.
While talking about the completion of the construction works, Jindal added, “The construction of this new terminal is going on in full swing and 40 per cent work is almost completed and by the year 2021 it will get ready for public use,”.
