HNLC peace talks: Meghalaya CM Sangma to alert Centre
The outfit had demanded the release of the jailed leader of insurgent group HNLC Julius K Dorphang.

Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, the Meghalaya Police have arrested the suspected founder members of a newly-formed terror outfit, ‘Lawei ba Phyrnai’ (Bright Future).

The outfit had sent two email threats to chief minister Conrad Sagma recently blaming the CM for the growing unemployment in the state and threatened to bomb educational institutes.

Sources in Meghalaya police said that while two persons were detailed, one was later shown arrested. Though police did not share much detail of the arrested person, claimed that he was the founder of the outfit and a resident of Meghalaya.

Earlier, the outfit had demanded the release of the jailed leader of insurgent group Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) Julius K Dorphang. It had warned of blowing up a school if the demand was not met.

Recently, the HNLC had come forward for unconditional talks and the peace dialogue process was on.
