The wait for a pair of giraffes is finally over for the Assam Zoo cum Botanical Garden which welcomed a male giraffe in its premises after eight long years on December 5th, 2019.
After travelling an “epic journey” of 3,300 kilometres, the male giraffe from Mysore Zoo reached the Assam Zoo in Guwahati under an animal exchange programme.
The female giraffe was brought to the zoo on November 29th, 2019 as part of an exchange programme from Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan in Patna.
The photograph of the male and female giraffes basking in the sun will melt your heart. They make a beautiful pair and the photograph of the giraffes standing side by side will make you go aww.
The Minister took to Twitter to share the news. “After travelling an epic journey of 3,300 kms the male giraffe from mysore zoo reached @assamzoo today morning. The male and the female are happy together. It will again be part of the Assam State Zoo after a long gap of 8 years,” tweeted Suklabaidya.
