Narendra Modi will be India’s prime minister again after his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) looked set for a historic, landslide win on May 23rd, 2019 in the world’s biggest general election.

Congratulating Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, North-East Democratic Alliance convenor and Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that truth won in the Lok Sabha elections.

“May 23, 2019 is a day of great pride and will go down in History as a day when the might & voice of millions of muted Indians roared in unison for #NarendraModi,” tweeted Sarma.

The exit polls predicted a clean sweep for the BJP. The BJP will manage to keep its core states – the Hindi heartland, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
