In a first-of-its-kind bid to woo tourists in Tripura, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated two ‘selfie points’ with city name signage at Agartala. These are the first such points in the state so far.

Deb unveiled the two selfie points with city name signage reading ‘I love Agartala’ and ‘I love Tripura’ in front of the Ujjayanta Palace and Heritage Park respectively. After the inauguration, Deb himself clicked a selfie and posted on his official Twitter handle.

The selfie points which have grabbed eyeballs were set up by the State Engineers Association on the occasion of Engineer’s Day on September 15th 2019. The iconic signage was set up by the State Engineers Association (SEA), Tripura.

The Ujjayanta Palace is a museum and the former palace of the Kingdom of Tripura situated in Agartala. The palace was constructed between 1899 and 1901 by the King of Tripura, Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya Debbarma and stands on the banks of two lakes. Palace was the home of the ruling Manikya dynasty until Tripura’s merger into India in October 1949.

On the other hand, the Heritage Park is built by the Government of Tripura in the heart of the capital city. From Unakoti sculptures, Neermahal Palace, Tripura Sundari Temple – the Park is that it offers the visitors all the flavours of Tripura under one roof.
