The Furkating Police nabbed three women drug peddlers from the Furkating railway colony slum area and seized packets of drugs, cash worth Rs 60,000, mobile phones and two motorbikes from their possession.
The arrested women have been identified as Mirfa Begum, Hasma Begum and Mukfina Begum. As per reports, the trio along with a man identified as Moina Ali, who is on the run, was allegedly selling drugs in the railway colony for years now.
Golaghat Deputy Superintendent of Police, Partha Pratim Saikia said, “In a drive to bust the drug rackets running in the district, we launched a search operation in the Furkating railway colony and nabbed the three culprits.”
He added, “We have seized 2 kilograms of each bhang and brown sugar along with motorbikes, cash and mobile phones. When the customers fail to pay the requisite amount for the drugs, they mortgage their mobile phones and motorbikes.”
