The sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 11th, 2019, caught the General Manager of the Sales department of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) red-handed in connection with a bribery case. The accused has been identified as Dibyajyoti Dutta and he was nabbed by the officials while he was taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a woman here in Guwahati’s Rukminigaon area.

As per reports, the official asked for the bribe from the woman in connection to the allocation of a petrol pump in Tuli in Nagaland. The CBI has also arrested Lalchand Choudhury, Laxmi Narayan Sogani, Tony alias Ankeet and Bendangnaro Ao on the allegation of demanding and accepting illegal gratification habitually from different private businessmen owning petrol pump and kerosene oil dealership for showing them a favour in allotment of new retail outlets all over North Eastern states including Assam.

The CBI, Guwahati has registered a case (No RC 1(A)/2019) under sections 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 7, 7(A), 8 and 12 (PC) Amendment Act 2018 against four persons – Dibyajyoti Datta, GM (Sales), IOC(AOD), Guwahati, Lalchand Choudhury alias Lalaram, Auto Centre Agent at IOC Ltd in Nagaland, Laxmi Narayan Sogani  alias Lichu Babu of Guwahati and Tony alias Ankeet, Hindustan Tyre Corporation of Guwahati and Ms Bendangnaro Ao of Dimapur in Nagaland on the allegation of demanding and accepting illegal gratification habitually from different private businessmen owning petrol pump and kerosene oil dealership for showing them favour in allotment of new retail outlets all over North Eastern states including Assam.
