Amid the concern over the growing number of COVID-19 infected patients across the world, a journalist has been tested positive for coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier, daughter of the journalist, who attended senior Congress leader Kamal Nath’s final news conference as Madhya Pradesh chief minister, was also tested positive.
Other journalists who were present at the news conference have been asked to self-quarantine.
India is currently under a 21-day nation-wide lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus which infected 512 people and claimed 10 lives so far in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and health experts have warned that the country faces a tidal wave of infections if tough steps aren’t taken.
The lockdown announcement came on March 24th, 2020 barring the essential services.
First detected in a cluster of mysterious pneumonia cases in central China, the new coronavirus disease has grown into a pandemic that the World Health Organisation says is accelerating.
The virus has infected 4,28,220 people and claimed 19,101 lives worldwide so far. Italy registered the highest number of deaths with 6,820 followed by China (3281) and Spain (2991).
