Husband-Wife Duo Arrested For Running Sex Racket In Guwahati

Arrested couple in the Panjabari sex racket case

In a development in the Panjabari sex racket case, police have arrested one Mrigen Nath and his wife Mamoni Nath for allegedly forcing the 13-year-old minor to do prostitution from Pragati Nagar in the city.

Police have also recovered many objectionable items from the possession of the accused.

On June 12th, 2019, the Satgaon police arrested the prime accused Maina Gowala and a Sub Divisonal Officer of the Agriculture department Madan Mohan Deuri Bharali for running the sex racket at the Namghar path at Guwahati’s Panjabari area

It may be mentioned that one Maina Gowala, a resident of Namghar Path, took one 14-year-old girl as caretaker with a promise to take responsibility for her education two months back. As per information, Gowala allegedly forced the girl to do prostitution.

The incident came to light when the locals on suspicion quizzed the girl in the matter. Later, the locals informed the family members of the girl.

A case (No 57/2019) under sections 120B (Punishment of criminal conspiracy), 373 (Buying minor for purposes of prostitution), 376 (2) and RW Section 6 and 17 was registered at the Satgaon Police Station. The police have arrested eight people in the case so far.
