The man, who was admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for suspected coronavirus infection, was tested negative and discharged from the hospital on March 15th, 2020.
Speaking to the media persons, the Superintendent of the GMCH, Ramen Talukdar said, “We found everything negative during the screening and hence discharged him today.”
The man, who hails from Amchoi in Jagiroad, Morigaon, recently returned to Assam from Kerala after four years. He was admitted in the hospital on March 14th, 2020, after he developed fever and symptoms of flu.
He further informed that the isolation ward has been installed in the hospital for the coronavirus infected people. “We have taken all the steps for the treatment of patients. Isolated wards have also been installed in Silchar Medical College and Hospital and Jorhat Medical College and Hospital,” he added. Besides, Talukdar informed that a total of 29 samples were collected for the test of coronavirus.
The GMCH superintendent appealed the people not to panic and always consult with doctors if they suspect anything related to the disease.
On the other hand, a man with suspected coronavirus symptoms was admitted to the isolation ward of Biswanath Chariali Civil Hospital. The man recently returned from Kerala. The man has now been referred to the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital.
