Manipur Village Tense After NSCN-IM Violates Ceasefire

Suspected temporary hutment type structures were spotted in the forest of Ukhrul (north) during the routine aerial recce by Assam Rifles personnel on April 25th, 2019

As the NSCN-IM committed a serious violation of ceasefire ground rules by setting up an “unauthorised camp” in Ukhrul district of Manipur, a village called Khamasom village are having nightmares as it has turned into a virtual battlefield.

According to media reports, the villagers will take out a peace rally on April 3oth, 2019 to pray for peace to the village.

It may be mentioned, suspected temporary hutment type structures were spotted in the forest of Ukhrul (north) during the routine aerial recce by Assam Rifles personnel on April 25th, 2019. The troops were immediately deployed to confirm the existence of an unauthorised camp of NSCN-IM in that area.

The government and NSCN-IM had arrived at a ceasefire agreement in 1997.
