    NF Railway Salutes 6 Staff Members For Evading Major Accidents

    Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on July 31st, 2019 awarded six railway staff from various divisions for their “exceptional alertness” during duty hours. Applauding their meritorious work, the NFR awarded all the six railway staffers with a cash award of Rs 3,000 along with a certificate issued by the General Manager of NFR.

    The awardees are – Bhubaneswar Kalita Track Maintainer of Engineering department under Rangiya Division. On June 14th, 2019, Kalita detected ‘weld failure’ at KM 355/9 between Rangiya – Ghograpar stations. He immediately protected the track and stopped a train by showing a red hand signal and informed the Section Engineer.

    Prithvi Chandra Shah and Parohi Yadav both Track Maintainers under Engineering Department of Katihar Division while on patrolling duty on June 21st, 2019 detected ‘Crack in stock rail’ between Dalan – Rautara stations at KM 8 / 7-8. They immediately protected the track and informed the Station Manager in both directions as well as Sectional Engineer. The track was later repaired.

    Ganesh Prasad and Shri Manoj Hari both technicians under Mechanical Department of Katihar Division while performing their rolling in examination duty on June 26th, 2019 detected ‘Front trolley floating lever pin in open condition and lever rubbing with axle’ of coach No-13803 NF/WCB of train No-15483 Dn. They immediately informed the on-duty Section Engineer/C&W/Katihar to undertake the repair of the said coach.

    Lastly, Goutam Rishi Track Maintainer under Engineering Department of Katihar Division during his duty hours as a gateman on June 28th, 2019 detected ‘Hot Axle’ in wagon No-3003016556 NR/BCNL of train No- Dn HIMB CPC. He immediately showed the red hand signal to the Guard of the said train and informed to Station Manager / Dalkhola.

    The NF Railway on July 31st, 2019 took to Twitter and wrote, “Our roll of honour. Railwaymen who have set examples by dint of their hard work and devotion were honoured in NFR HQ today. We are proud of them.”
