    NIA charge sheets two in gold smuggling case

    The 83.621 Kilograms gold was initially smuggled into Guwahati for further delivery to gold dealers in New Delhi.

    Guwahati: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed supplementary charge sheet against two accused persons namely Vaibhav Sampat More and Ravindra Vishnu Jadhav,  under section 120B, 204, of IPC; Section 16, 18, 20, of the UA (P) Act before NIA Special Court, New Delhi in a gold smuggling case.

    The 83.621 Kilograms gold was initially smuggled into Guwahati for further delivery to gold dealers in New Delhi.

    Investigation has revealed that the above charge sheeted accused persons had conspired and were part of a gang having international linkages for smuggling gold into India.

    Subsequently, NIA had registered the case relating to the seizure of gold at New Delhi Railway Station last year under section 16 of UA (P) Act. Earlier, NIA had  filed chargesheet against eleven accused persons under section 120B, 204, 419, 468 & 471 of IPC; Section 16, 18, 18B, 20, of the UA (P) Act on March 18.
