Guwahati: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against 12 people, including nine Bangladeshi nationals, for their alleged involvement in trafficking girls across the border.
The charge sheet was filed in a special NIA court in Hyderabad on Saturday under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and the Foreigners Act.
NIA officials said the 12 accused are Ruhul Amin Dhali form West Bengal, Asad Hasan and Shareeful Shaik from Maharashtra, Abdul Barik Shaik a resident to Bangladesh (absconding), Mohd Yousuf Khan, Bithi Begum, Mohd Rana Hussain and Mohammed Al Mamun, Sojib Shaik and Suresh Kumar Das, Mohd Abdulla Munsi and Mohd Ayub Shaik from Bangladesh.
The case was originally registered on September 21 last year at Pahadishareef Police Station in Hyderabad following the arrest of 10 human traffickers on the same day from two brothels.
The NIA investigation established that the arrested accused were associates of Dhali and Abdul Barik Shaik who illegally trafficked young girls from Bangladesh to India and vice versa.
Ruhul Amin Dhali and 10 other arrested accused had illegally entered India in 1980s and established a prostitution racket along with Yusuf Khan and Bithi Begum (husband and wife) in various parts of India.
