Expressing his strong desire to contest from Nagaon parliamentary constituency in the ensuing general election, sitting MP Rajen Gohain on March 14th, 2019 said anybody can seek ticket from the party to contest in the election. “But, he or she has to win. Because, people have not gone against me till date in the Nagaon constituency,” Gohain said.

Talking about the alleged rape case against him by a woman, Gohain said, “It won’t be a matter of concern for me as the Guwahati High Court has already promulgated stay order in it. It was a planned conspiracy.”

Denying the anti-incumbency wave, Gohain said, “There should not be an anti-incumbency wave in Nagaon as I have 20 years of good relationships with the people of the constituency. I have tried to work for the welfare of the people. I have spent the whole MP fund.

Gohain, while talking about Rupak Sarma who sought ticket for the party to contest from Nagaon, said, “It is quite shocking to listen to the news about him seeking ticket. I picked up Rupak Sarma from the street side and made him a legislator. I never thought that he would seek ticket.”

Gohain further claimed that he had done enormous developmental work in Nagaon constituency in his tenure as MP for which people supported him.
