No fresh restrictions for ‘now’: Assam govt officials asked to attend office after a week of testing Covid positive
Guwahati: All state government officials have to resume their work from office after being tested Covid19 positive, said Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.
The chief minister said that though the state government was not been planning of any fresh restrictions in the state despite the sharp rise of Covid19 cases across the state.
He clarified, “Since Assam currently has only 12 percent hospitalization of Covid19 patients, we are not thinking of any further restrictions for now. Also, all government officials have to attend office on the 8th day from being tested Covid19 positive unless he or she is in hospital.”
The chief minister added that the state has also set a target to full vaccinate cover at least 90 percent of the state population by February 15.
“Out of state’s total eligible population of 2.20 Crore, already some 1.72 crore have been fully vaccinated. We want complete the remaining 50 lakh within February 15,” he added.
On Wednesday, Assam continued to record rise in fresh Covid19 cases. On Wednesday, at least 8339 fresh cases were recorded out of 64,699 tests done at a rate of 12.89%. The Kamrup (Metro) district recorded fresh 1929 cases. At least 15 people died of Covid19 on Wednesday.
