No more veggies from outside the State

Gangtok, November 23: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling have recently announced to completely ban import of vegetables from outside the State.

This will be applicable from March 31, 2018 in the country’s first organic State.

CM Chamling while talking about the Mission 2020 further added that Sikkim should be self-sufficient in food grains along with dairy, poultry, by 2020 and reiterated the State government’s mission of making the State Poverty free by 2020.

This was informed in a State level Panchayat Sammelan for Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies which was held at Manan Kendra.

Congratulating all the newly elected representatives in the recently held Panchayat elections the Chief Minister asked them to work together towards the benefit of the State.

The CM also announced that the second phase of Organic Mission in the State would focus on productivity and sustainability and termed the panchayats to be the true ambassadors of organic farming.
