Guwahati, February 8: In order to deal with the issues of illegal migrant problems from Bangladesh, the Indian Government does not need any new ‘bilateral agreement’ with Bangladesh. Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju stated this at the Parliament on Wednesday.

Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday stated that the Government of India already has extensive engagement with the Government of Bangladesh under various bilateral mechanisms. Some of them are Joint Consultative Commission, Foreign Secretary and Home Secretary-level talks, Joint Working Group on Security and Border Management, Joint Task Forces on Human Trafficking, Fake Currency Notes etc.

He added that all issues of relevance and importance relating to security and border management including the issue of illegal migrants are raised at these bilateral talks.
