Guwahati, December 5: No special monetary allowances will be provided to the Judges of Gauhati, Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura High Courts which is provided to other government officers posted in the northeast region.
Ministry of Law and Justice has communicated to the Judges of all the four Northeast States that the recommendation made for the special monetary allowances had been rejected by the Seventh Pay Commission.
The Law ministry also said that the matter will be again referred to the department of personnel and training under Ministry of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions for reconsidering providing additional allowances to the Judges posted in the Northeastern States.
A demand of increment up to 25% had been raised by the Judges of the High Courts in addition to other allowances which are provided to officers posted in Northeast India.
The purpose of providing additional perks to officers in the Northeastern region of India is to encourage them to serve better and to attract more officers to volunteer themselves to work in this region.
