Guwahati: Police on Wednesday have arrested one person identified as Dipu Kumar for his alleged involvement in the murder of a woman named Ashmina Khatun in North Guwahati.

Khatun was found dead on Monday night at her rented room at Nayanpara area in Bhetamukh, North Guwahati.

A resident of Juria in the Nagaon district, she was residing as a tenant in North Guwahati and earned her daily living by working in a sweet factory. Police suspected that she was strangulated by her male friend.

Kumar after his arrested has reportedly admitted of his involvement and helping the prime accused PK Anand in the killing.

Anand has been on the run so far.
