Guwahati: In a sensational incident, a young woman was allegedly strangled to death by her lover on Monday. The incident was reported at Nayanpara in Bhetamukh, North Guwahati.
The body of the deceased identified as Asmina Khatun was found inside a locked room.
It is known that Asmina Khatun was a resident of Juria in the Nagaon district. She was residing as a tenant in North Guwahati and earned her daily living by working in a sweet factory.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased suspected that her lover had strangled the woman to death before fleeing the scene.
The city police reached the crime scene and sent the body for post-mortem.
An investigation into the case is underway. The police have reportedly detained a few persons for questioning.
