Guwahati: Several parts of Assam are expected to receive fairly widespread light or moderate rainfall activity with thunderstorms and lightning during the next 5 days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed.

However, an ongoing western disturbance and an induced cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and its neighborhood in lower tropospheric levels are likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region on Saturday and then weaken on Sunday.

In contrast, Northeastern India might experience strengthened weather activity from Sunday onwards. Another western disturbance will also commence next week, impacting the Western Himalayan Region starting Thursday.

Meanwhile, under the influence of the above systems, scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall activity with thunderstorms and lightning to continue over Northeast India from March 25-29.

Isolated heavy rainfall may occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya on March 27-29, IMD informed.

The scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity also predicted over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on March 25-26; over Jharkhand, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha on March 26-27.
