Northeast’s First NDLI Club To Digitally Empower Learners Established In Sivasagar

In a bid to provide easy access to more information digitally, the Nazira College in Assam’s Sivasagar district on September 13th, 2019 launched the first club of the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) in the Northeast for its the students and the faculty members. It was inaugurated as part of the NDLI’s movement for Integrated Digital Learning across India under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The NDLI COO Sujata Roy, who was present on the occasion, said, “The prime objective of the mission is to empower the learners through digital access of all sources. It is a platform that strengthens the source of information of the learners.”

NDLI, spearheaded by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, is a digital repository containing textbooks, articles, videos, audiobooks, lectures, simulations, fiction and all other kinds of learning media.

Inaugurating the centre, principal of the college, Raju Phukan said, “Students’ will be highly benefitted with the inauguration of the club. Now, they can access the digital version of any kinds of books, articles, audiobooks etc in any language. It is not possible to keep every item at a contemporary library. But, the digital library has unlimited information. It would definitely bring a revolution among the learners at this digital age.”

It may be mentioned that first NDLI North East Regional Centre was inaugurated at the IIT-Guwahati April 20th, 2018 with an aim to integrate regional content from the Northeastern states.
