Not wearing a Mask? Assam Police are ready for You

With denizens continuing to flout the COVID 19 protocols of wearing masks and social distancing, Assam Police have decided to launch a crackdown on all the violators of these protocols.

GUWAHATI: With denizens continuing to flout the COVID 19 protocols of wearing masks and social distancing, Assam Police have decided to launch a crackdown on all the violators of these protocols.

Terming such violation as ‘foolish’, Assam Police Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta asked the people of the state to wear masks or face consequences. Police have been penalizing the violators across the state.

The police chief said, “Some people in the state think themselves as heroes by not wearing mask. This is a foolish behaviour and they are risking their own lives. So I urge people to wear mask and save lives.” He also took twitter to raise this issue and tweeted about the negligence of people wearing masks.

Jumping into the action, Assam Police were seen busy at work and extracting fines from the people caught without masks or face cover.

In a similar drive, Charaideo Police started to penalize a sum of Rs 500 from those who were either not wearing masks or wearing them improperly. A total amount of Rs 47,000 was realized by Charaideo Police.

Dhubri Police too on Monday collected Rs 85,500 fine from people across the state for not wearing masks or mouth covers in public places.

Dhubri police took Twitter to announce this and also requested people to act responsibly. They wrote: “Yesterday Rs 85,500 realised as fine in 1 day during Sensitization cum Enforcement of COVID related Mask Protocols by @Dhubri_Police and we are not proud of this. Time to please act responsibly. Now onwards we shall be more strict with irresponsible violators! @assampolice”.

Assam Police had earlier warned of strict action for violating the COVID19 protocols.
