NPP will contest alone in Arunachal Assembly election: Conrad Sangma

Itanagar, January 12: Meghalaya Chief Minister and National Peoples’ Party (NPP) President Conrad Sangma said that the party will contest alone in the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly elections.

“The NPP plans to contest as many Assembly seats as possible in Arunachal Pradesh alone while remaining a partner of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA),” he said.

“The NEDA is a platform to plan for economic development, all parties are free to maintain their respective identity which the NPP would do,” he added.

The Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh are due along with the Lok Sabha elections.

Notably, the NPP is a part of the BJP-led N Biren Singh government in Manipur, Neiphiu Rio- led NDDP government in Nagaland.
