    NSCN(R) Hideout Destroyed In Cachar, 2 Rebels Arrested

    Both the individuals were involved in illegal extortion, kidnapping and criminal activities in Zeliangrong region

    Security forces busted a makeshift camp used by National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Reformation) NSCN(R) and Zeliangrong United Front  (ZUF) cadres in Ramgaizang area in Cachar district of Assam on November 16th, 2019 and arrested two militants.

    Acting on a tip-off, Assam Rifles 37  Bn. Personnel from Jirighat PS and in collaboration with Lakhipur Police Sub-Division launched one operation at thick jungles of Ramgaizang area. In the operation, one AK-56 rifle with huge ammunition was recovered.

    The arrested cadres were identified as Pougonglong alias Lucky (28). He was the self-styled ‘Lieutenant’ of NSCN (R). He hails from Tamenglong in Manipur. The other one is Sagu Rongmai (40). He hails from Cachar and was the self-styled ‘Captain’ of ZUF

    Officials said that both the individuals were involved in illegal extortion, kidnapping and criminal activities in Zeliangrong region. Various household items, mobile phones, were also recovered from the campsite.
