GUWAHATI: The number of districts affected by floods in Assam showed a visible and continuous decrease on Friday. The districts affected by the disaster on Friday were – Dhemaji, Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Kamrup metro and Morigaon.
Till Thursday, ten districts of the state were struggling to overcome the calamity.
According to the daily flood bulletin released by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, particularly, Jonai circle in Dhemaji district, Bijni in Chirang, Goreswar in Baksa, Bagribari in Kokrajhar, Sonapur in Kamrup metro and Morigaon circle in Morigaon district were seen affected by the flood on Friday.
However, 215 hectors of crop areas in Jonai circle and 5160 hectors of crop areas in Morigaon district were affected by the flood on Friday.
The flood affected 1958 population in Jonai, 3000 in Goreswar, 128 in Bijni, 4272 in Bagribari, 1140 in Sonapur and 2030 in Morigaon altogether affecting 12528 populations in these 6 districts.
Altogether 201 inmates – 73 inmates in Jonai and 128 inmates in Bijni were sheltered in two different camps.
