Guwahati: The odds of conducting the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary (HS) examinations in the state look confirmed, as the positivity rate dropped by 2.16% from 3.07% in the last 24 hours.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press conference on Thursday hinted at conducting the HSLC and HS examinations from July 15 to 20, only if the positivity rate drops below 2%.
Also, state education minister Ranoj Pegu told the media a day before the Chief Minister’s press conference that the state government will soon come up with a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) regarding the conducting of the board exams in the state after a final call by Health Department in the next 7 to 10 days.
He also assured that if the examinations are to be held in the state, only after the COVID situation normalizes.
Meanwhile, the state in last 24 hours recorded a 3,666 new COVID positive cases, with 29 deaths.
The total COVID cases in the state stands at 4,53,867, whereas, the total death cases are 3,873.
Total patients discharged on Friday was 5,241.
Presently, the total active cases in the state stands at 45,477.
