One Electrocuted At A Construction Site In Guwahati

Police are currently investigating the matter on how the incident took place

A construction worker died in Guwahati’s Maligaon on Saturday after coming in contact with an electric line at an under-construction building.

A source said that the person has been identified as Jauj Rai of Goalpara’s Dhupdhara who was engaged in the construction of a commercial complex in the area. He while working in the area, mistakenly touched an electric line.

Immediately after the incident he was taken to a hospital but he was declared dead by the doctors. Another person who tried to save him was critically injured and is currently undergoing treatment.

The other person has been identified as Jhon Mahar.

Locals have alleged that the construction on the site was illegally going on despite there has been a lockdown order on it. However, one of the labourers claimed that the construction was going on as per the norms of the lockdown.

Currently the police are investigating the issue.
