One killed and 5 injured in a political clash in Tripura

Agartala, January 3: In a bizarre incident on Tuesday night at Rajnagar under Belonia Subdivision in South Tripura District a person killed and five others seriously injured during a clash of neighbors at Rajnagar area. The deceased person has been identified as Amulya Malakar.

The two persons who had been severely injured in the clash were admitted in GB Hospital Agartala and other three are under treatment at Belonia Hospital.

According to sources, on Monday night there was an exchange of arguments between Amulya Malakar and Gopal Malakar and in the heat of the moment Gopal, who was drunk on that time attacked Amulya and others who were coming to rescue Amulya Malakar with a sharp weapon.

Police arrested the accused Gopal Malakar and interrogating him about the incident.

Meanwhile, BJP claimed that this incident is a politically motivated murder and alleged that it is 7th murder in a series in the state and the deceased Amulya Malakar along with others injured were recently joined the party and the accused Gopal is a CPI (M) activist.

The BJP leaders also visited the spot in Belonia and met the injured persons in hospital. Tension is still prevailing in the entire area as the election is about to happen soon in the State and such incidences can deteriorate the law and order situation.
