ONGC kidnapping: Rescued employees handed over to Charaideo police

Guwahati: The security forces finally handed over the custody of the two kidnapped ONGC employees to Sivasagar police at the mid-night hours on Sunday.

In a joint operation by the troops of Assam Rifles and the Indian Army rescued two of the three abducted ONGC employees from a remote village at the Indian-Myanmar border in Nagaland’s Mon district earlier on Saturday.

Those rescued are Alakesh Saikia and Mohini Mohan Gogoi.

The whereabouts of the third ONGC employee Ritul Saikia has not been ascertained yet and the search operation is on stated Shwetank Mishra, Superintendent of Police, Charaideo.

Both rescued ONGC employees were escorted by the security forces in the deep dense forests of Nagaland until handed over to a police team headed by Additional Superintendent of Police of Charaideo District Deepjyoti Talukdar and Circle Inspector Anil Moran.

Meanwhile, Mohini Mohan Gogoi told the media that Ritul Saikia has been missing following the fierce gun battle between the ULFA(I) and the security forces.
