Good news for wildlife lovers. In Assam, only three rhino poaching incidents have been reported in the Kaziranga National Park in 2019 which is lowest in the last 10 years.

In 2019, two rhinos were killed under Golaghat district and one at Biswanath district. No rhino poaching incidents have been reported in Nagaon, Sonitpur and  Karbi Anglong districts of Assam. However, 21 poachers were apprehended in 2019 under Jakhalabandha Police Station in Nagaon.

“Kaziranga National Park is pleased to inform you that during 2019, the number of Rhino poaching has gone down to 3, which is one of the lowest so far. We are thankful to the proud people of Assam, Police Department, Civil Administration, Intelligence agencies, nature and wildlife lovers and all well wishers for the support extended. Expecting similar cooperation from all. “Together we can and we will control Rhino poaching (sic),” read a Facebook post from the official account of KNP.
