Only a Fortnight remains but Fake Docs still being submitted for NRC verification in Assam

Guwahati/Hajo, July 14: With only a fortnight remaining for the publication of the final draft NRC, people of Assam are waiting with bated breath for the d-day, July 30. However, people still continue to submit fake documents for NRC verification in their last and desperate attempt to somehow induct their names in the updated NRC.

During legacy data verification at Dhuhi NSK in Hajo under Kamrup district, it has come to light that, one Mohammad Rijuwan submitted a fake certificate of a local school while the truth is that he had never studied in that school.

The ‘fake documents’ came to light when the NSK authorities under suspicion called the principal of the particular school to verify whether the school certificate submitted by the person is real or fake. The principal not only confirmed that the certificate is fake but also filed an FIR against Mohammad Rijuwan for producing fake certificates in the name of his school.

Police acting on the FIR arrested Rijuwan when it came to light that his actual home is in Uttar Pradesh and some middleman from the village had issued him the fake certificate in return of money. The middleman has also been arrested by Police and they are continuing with the investigation.

Locals alleged that many such cases involving fake NRC documents are going on in the area and while some of them have been exposed, many of them might have been able to pass off these documents as real.
