Orang National Park Closed Amid Spike In COVID Cases

Guwahati: Owing to the surge in COVID-19 cases, the authorities of Orang National Park have ordered the closure of the national park for tourists until further notice.

The order will come into force from Thursday onwards.

The order for closure of the national park was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Darrang District.

It may be mentioned that Assam continued to record jumps in the Covid19 cases as well as deaths on Tuesday.

While surpassing Monday’s tally of around 7000 Covid cases, the state recorded some 8072 fresh Covid19 cases on Tuesday.

In comparison to Monday’s death tally of 11, at least 16 people died on Tuesday.

The positivity rate also jumped to 12.62 on Tuesday from 10.75 per cent on Monday. However, tests were still lacking behind with merely 63,944 tests conducted on Tuesday in the state.

In Kamrup metro district the number of Covid19 cases has also gone up to 1996 fresh cases. On Monday, there were 1491 fresh cases in the metro district.
