    Over 180 hectares added to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam

    Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985, the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve has an estimated 2,413 rhinos and 121 tigers

    GUWAHATI: As per the direction of the Gauhati high court, the civil administration of Bokakhat Sub-division under Golaghat district has handed over the third and fifth Addition areas to the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on Friday.

    Area of the third addition is 69.76 ha and fifth addition is 115.36 ha.

    These areas were notified as an addition to Kaziranga during 1985, said Ramesh Gogoi, DFO, Eastern Assam Wildlife Division.

    While the fifth addition is a habitat and corridor area of Haldhibari corridor, the third addition is a habitat and corridor area of Panbari corridor.

    Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985, the KNPTR has an estimated 2,413 rhinos and 121 tigers.
