    Over 4 kg of Heroin seized in Assam

    During the police investigation, it was revealed that the heroin was coming to Guwahati from Imphal

    GUWAHATI: Acting on a tip-off, Assam Police in two separate operations in the last 24 hours against narcotics contrabands, seized over 4 kilos of heroin.

    Four persons including a woman were also arrested during the operations.

    In the first of the operations, Laharijan police of Karbi Anglong set up a special Naka based on intel reports and intercepted a six-wheeler truck and on being thorough search of the vehicle six packets of heroin weighing around 3 kg 45 grams were recovered inside the cabin of the truck.

    In this connection following two persons from Manipur were arrested. They were identified as Rame Gurung (27) and Bhim Gurung (33).

    During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that the drugs were heading towards Guwahati from Imphal.

    Meanwhile, in the other operation conducted in Morigaon district, police sleuths have seized 88 containers (each containing about 1mg) of suspected heroin from the house of one Abul Kasem of Jagiroad. Both Abul Kasem and his wife Fatema Begum, who is also a drug dealer, have been arrested.

    Cases were registered on both the occasions under appropriate sections of NDPS ACT and IPC.
