Pakistan has said their names were in the dossier given by India to Pakistan. However, the Pakistani interior ministry secretary said if no evidence is brought up against them, they will be released.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has denied that it took the steps under no pressure from India but was based on the decisions taken by the National Action Plan committee.

Rauf, who is also known as Mufti, is responsible for carrying out numerous terror attacks in India including hijacking of Indian Airlines plane IC814 in 1999, the December 2001 attack on Indian Parliament and January 2016 attack on Indian air force base in Pathankot and the recent Pulwama terror attack on February 14th, 2019 which claimed the lives of at least 44 CRPF jawans including one from Assam.
