Kampur, December 6: The villagers of Simlai Pathar in Kampur tehsil of Ngaon district have come down heavily against the Polling officers after several empty liquor bottles, paan stains along with used disposable plates were spotted all over the school premises.
The Simlai Pathar LP School was one of the polling centres for the citizens of No 7 and No 8 Ward Bakulguri Panchayat, Kathiatoli block for the first phase of the Assam Panchayat Polls which concluded yesterday.
“This is really not acceptable that too at an educational institution of consumption of alcohol inside the premises. This is just sheer irresponsibility of the polling officers. We condemn this act. The respective authorities should clean up the mess as soon as possible,” said a local.
The districts that went for polls on December 5 are -Tinsukia, Dibrugrah,Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, Majuli,Golaghat, Nagaon, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Morigaon, Kamrup (M) and Kamrup.
