PCI demands report on missing & murdered journalists from Assam Govt

New Delhi, January 12: The Press Council of India (PCI) has demanded a report from the State government regarding murder and disappearance of thirty-two journalists in Assam.

Chairman of PCI Chandramauli Kumar Prasad has reportedly said that after not receiving any concrete information regarding killings and disappearance of the journalist by the concerned authorities, he himself taken this initiative and demanded report from the State government.

PCI claimed for the report when the Assam Chief Minister has announced Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia amount to the family members of the deceased journalists and those who went missing since many years. PCI has reportedly recommended for a committee for the safety of the journalists in the State.

Journalists from Assam has lost their live while covering high profile since decades and reportedly no step by the State government has been taken to investigate the matter.
