Petrol And Diesel Prices Increased In Assam

The decision was taken due to the shortage of funds due to the ongoing pandemic.

Petrol and diesel prices will increase by almost Rs 5 in Assam from Wednesday.

The new price of Petrol in Assam will be Rs 77.48 while the Diesel will be Rs 70.50. The Petrol prices increased by almost Rs 5.87 while diesel price increased by around Rs 5.50 paise.

The decision was taken due to reported shortage of funds due to the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and in order to tackle the situation, the government has taken the decision to increase the prices. The decision was reportedly taken due to the shortage of funds due to the ongoing pandemic.

The prices earlier were Rs 71.59 for petrol and Rs 65.05 for diesel.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the sale of fuel, as well as several other commodities, had dropped in the state. This had brought the collection of taxes to an almost standstill but with the increase in the prices, the government is “hoping” that some revenue might be generated.

The prices will be active in the state from 6 am onwards from Wednesday.
