    Petrol, diesel and alcohol prices to drop in Assam

    Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement while presenting the Vote-on-Account Budget for the year 2021-2022 of the Assam Assembly.

    Guwahati: Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced that the price of petrol, diesel and alcohol will drop in Assam from tonight.

    Sarma made the announcement while presenting the Vote-on-Account Budget for the year 2021-2022 of the Assam Assembly.

    Presenting the Budget, the finance minister said that from Friday midnight the prices of petrol and diesel will be reduced by Rs 5. The revised rate will come into effect today midnight.

    Currently, the price of petrol in Guwahati stands at Rs 90.17 while that of diesel is at Rs 84.82.

    Meanwhile, Sarma has also announced that the government has decided to drop 25% cess on alcohol, which was imposed to meet healthcare expenses amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The vote on account from April-July 2021 comes ahead of the State Assembly polls in the state. The three-day Assembly session will continue till February 13.
