The Lok Sabha elections in the eight Northeastern states will be held over the first three phases of the seven phases of polling. The Northeast which has a total of 25 seats will go to polls in three phases.

The phase I polling for the Lok Sabha elections will be held on April 11th,2019. The phase I polls will be held in 91 Lok Sabha or parliamentary constituencies in a total of 20 states. The campaigning for the first phase ends on April 9th, 2019 with leaders putting their best foot forward to woo voters.

Assam

The stage is all set for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in five Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) of Assam amidst tight security on April 11th, 2019. Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur will vote on April 11th, 2019.  For phase 1 Lok Sabha election on April 11th, 2019, the number of polling centres are 9,574.

Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh has a total number of 2 Lok Sabha constituencies – Arunachal West and Arunachal East. 12 candidates are contesting in two constituencies. Main parties are BJP, Congress and People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA). For phase 1 Lok Sabha election on April 11, the number of polling centres are 2,202.

Meghalaya

Meghalaya has two Lok Sabha seats, Shillong and Tura. Both the Lok Sabha seats in the state are reserved for the members of the Scheduled Tribes.  9 candidates are contesting in two constituencies. Main parties are BJP, Congress, NPP and UDP. For phase 1 Lok Sabha election on April 11, the number of polling centres are 3,167.

Mizoram

Six candidates are in the fray in the lone seat of Mizoram for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The polling will be held on April 11th, 2019, and 7.84 lakh voters can exercise their democratic rights in 1,175 polling stations.  For phase I Lok Sabha election on April 11th, 2019, the number of polling centres are 1,175.

Sikkim

11 candidates in the fray for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Sikkim. Altogether 150 candidates are in fray for 32 Assembly seats in Sikkim. Election to both the Lok Sabha seat and Assembly constituencies will be held on April 11th, 2019. Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), presently led by Pawan Kumar Chamling, has been winning since 1996.

11 candidates are contesting in 1 constituency. Main parties are BJP, Congress, SDF, HSP, SKM. For phase 1 Lok Sabha election on April 11th, 2019, the number of polling centres are 567.

Manipur

The polling for the two seats of this Himalayan state will be held in the first phase i. e April 11th, 2019.  8 candidates are contesting in 1 constituency. Main parties are BJP, Congress and NPF. For phase 1 Lok Sabha election on April 11th, 2019, the number of polling centres are 1300.

In the high-stakes battle, candidates from major political parties including the BJP and the Congress in Tripura will be contesting for two seats/constituencies. 13 candidates are contesting in 1 constituency. Main parties are BJP, Congress, CPM and TMC. For phase 1 Lok Sabha election on April 11th, 2019, the number of polling centres are 1,679.
